Easter Hat Parade
Easter Hat Parade is a fun and festive event held in Term 1 each year to celebrate the Easter season. Students create and decorate their own hats with colourful designs, such as flowers, bunnies, chicks, and eggs. The parade is a joyful occasion that encourages creativity and community spirit, often featuring music, laughter, and a chance for students to showcase their imaginative creations to classmates, teachers, and families. It’s a delightful way to bring everyone together and mark the arrival of Easter.
PBL Reward Day
PBL Reward Day is a special celebration to recognise and reward students for demonstrating positive behaviour for learning aligned with our school’s values. It encourages a supportive and respectful learning environment by acknowledging student efforts in being Safe, Respectful Learners and ready to learn. On this day, students often participate in fun activities, games, and treats as a thank-you for their positive contributions to the school community.
Captain Gillo, our school mascot, is always on the lookout for students being Safe, Respectful Learners.
Book Week
Book Week is an exciting annual event celebrated at Gillieston Public School to promote a love of reading and literature among students. During Book Week, students participate in various activities such as storytelling, book fairs, and book parade where they come dressed as their favourite book characters.
Athletics Carnival
Gillieston Public School Athletics Carnival is a lively and spirited event held each year to celebrate physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Students compete in a variety of track and field events such as running races, relays, long jump, and shot put representing their house groups Maxwell, Gillies, Walsh and Dawson.
The carnival encourages healthy competition, builds school spirit, and promotes a fun way for students to stay active, challenge themselves, and support their peers.
